Gleason WI · outdoors & retreat
Independent Wisconsin 501(c)(3) offering veterans free hunting and fishing trips, Warriors on the Water fishing days on Lake Winnebago, and Country Haven Farm - a private Northwoods retreat a veteran or veteran and family can stay at. No charge to the veteran.
Solon IA · outdoors & special programs
Iowa 501(c)(3) based at the Solon American Legion building, running veteran hunting and fishing trips since 2018 with donated lodging and volunteer-provided boats, plus PTSD and suicide-awareness programming and support for veterans' families. There is no participation fee; trips require an application and a fully refundable deposit ($150 for the fishing trip), and hunting or fishing licenses are bought separately. The FAQ states participants need at least a 30% VA disability rating and that veterans from outside Iowa are accepted; contact is by phone or text, by appointment only.
Fargo ND · outdoors & special programs
Fargo-based 501(c)(3) that takes veterans, active military, law enforcement and other first responders on free hunting and fishing trips and films their stories for its outdoor TV program. Through its Patriot House Project it also lets those groups and their families use a fully outfitted Ice Castle fish house or an RV free of charge at sites in Minnesota and South Dakota. All programs are cost-free to participants; the organization publishes no phone number, so contact is by email at [email protected].
Statewide ND · outdoors & special programs
All-volunteer North Dakota nonprofit that takes injured service members and veterans on hunts in the state at no cost to the hunter, covering lodging, a place to hunt and travel expenses. Its bow-season deer program runs on ten licenses issued by the ND Game and Fish Department and is open to honorably discharged veterans with a Purple Heart or a duty-related injury (DD-214 or VA disability award required); applications are accepted January 1 through September 1. It also places veterans in the cow-elk culling program at Theodore Roosevelt National Park's South Unit, run with the National Park Service, which is open to honorably discharged North Dakota-born veterans and does not require an injury. Minot ND · outdoors & special programs
North Dakota 501(c)(3) founded in 2012 that runs four one-day guided fishing events each summer at Indian Hills Resort on Lake Sakakawea, about 30 miles west of Garrison, and lends a seasonal veterans cabin at the same resort. Eligible veterans are those who served in an overseas conflict or who have a service-connected disability; the group says it serves over 100 veterans a year. All programs, including the cabin, are free to the veteran. Contact is by email at [email protected] - no phone number is published.
Fargo ND · outdoors & special programs
Fargo-based nonprofit that runs guided hunting and fishing trips - pronghorn, elk, moose, pheasant and Lake of the Woods fishing - for injured veterans and for young people up to age 25 in treatment or recovery from a serious illness. The veteran side is aimed at combat-related physical injuries rather than PTSD, and the foundation says it has served more than 4,000 recipients. Trips are funded by the foundation's donors and its annual Fargo banquet; call the office to ask about eligibility and how to be put forward for a trip.
Jud ND · outdoors & special programs
ADI-accredited nonprofit in Jud, ND (about 43 miles south of Jamestown) that trains and places PTSD, mobility-assistance and emergency medical response service dogs with individual clients; it serves anyone with a qualifying disability, not veterans only. Placement is not free - SDA lists a $25,000 cost covering training, team training, housing, materials, home visits and lifetime follow-up, plus a $50 fee on the full application (the preliminary application is free) - but staff help approved clients pursue fundraising, grants, scholarships and payment plans, and North Dakota veterans with a PTSD diagnosis can apply through the state DVA's service dog grant, which names SDA as its provider. Applicants must be 18 or older, live in the lower 48, cannot be on active duty, and must travel to the Jud campus for at least three weeks of team training; PTSD applicants also need a diagnosis from a licensed mental health professional and at least two years of ongoing therapy.
Custer SD · outdoors & special programs
Operates a furnished, handicap-accessible cabin in the Black Hills and gives combat-injured post-9/11 veterans and their immediate families a week-long stay at little or no cost, plus a Visa card on arrival to help with expenses. Eligibility is a minimum 30% combat-related disability rating from a post-September 11, 2001 operation, or Soldier Recovery Unit membership with physician documentation of an expected 30% rating. Applications are open for summer 2026 weeks.
Sioux Falls SD · outdoors & special programs
Sioux Falls nonprofit, described on its own site as a volunteer-run organization, that hosts faith-based outdoor events for veterans - pheasant and waterfowl hunts, fishing trips and UTV rides. Open to previously deployed or service-connected disabled veterans, who sign up for individual events through the events page. The site posts no registration fee but also does not spell out what it covers, so ask when you register.
Parker SD · outdoors & special programs
South Dakota 501(c)(3) that owns a wheelchair-accessible lodge on 160 acres of pheasant habitat near Parker, about 35 minutes from the Sioux Falls airport, and hosts veterans there for guided pheasant hunts at no cost to them. A stay runs four days and three nights with hunting on the two middle days, and covers airport pickup, an accessible suite, all meals, a safety talk and clay shooting, and cleaning and packaging the birds. The lodge has hosted disabled veterans since 2006 and is staffed by volunteers, most of them veterans; veterans apply online for a specific hunt date, and dates are posted through 2027.
Green Bay WI · outdoors & special programs
Wisconsin nonprofit that has run free guided hunting and fishing trips for veterans in northeast Wisconsin since 2015 — walleye, trout and ice fishing, plus goose, duck, turkey and pheasant hunts, offered both one-on-one and as larger group outings. Open to anyone honorably discharged or currently serving, and each veteran may bring one guest, who does not have to be a veteran. Trips cost nothing, but veterans arrange their own travel to the Green Bay area; contact is by email through the site, as no phone number or office address is published.

Wisconsin nonprofit that runs adaptive sports statewide for people with physical disabilities or visual impairment, including wheelchair basketball, sled hockey, wheelchair rugby, lacrosse, tennis, pickleball and softball. Veterans with disabilities get free registration for every WASA sport and program, and the veteran-specific HeroFit: Operation Deep Health track adds fitness training, coaching and events such as Bootcamp for the Troops and Wheelchair Academy. Delafield WI · outdoors & special programs
Volunteer-run Wisconsin nonprofit, founded 2016, that takes veterans, first responders and their families on outdoor outings - fishing, hunting, golf, SCUBA, kayaking, hiking and horseback - as peer support and suicide prevention. Veterans and first responders sign up through the participant application on the site; outings are paid for by donations and the group's own fundraisers, and the site lists no participant fee. Its 2026 calendar is active, with the Charity Ride and Big Bass Battle on August 8-9, 2026.

Accredited nonprofit school in Palmetto that trains and provides guide dogs, PTSD service dogs, and skilled companion dogs at no cost. Its Paws for Patriots program serves veterans who are visually impaired or have service-connected disabilities, with lifetime follow-up support.
Brooksville FL · service dogs for veterans with PTSD/TBI/MST
Brooksville-based 501(c)(3) that pairs veterans with service-related PTSD, TBI, or military sexual trauma with rescue dogs and trains each team together over a roughly 24-week program at no cost. Not affiliated with the VA. Aims to reduce veteran suicide.
