Find Out What Your Résumé Actually Says
Upload it and get a straight answer in under a minute — a score out of 100, the military phrases a civilian recruiter won't decode, and a fix list in priority order. Free, no account, nothing held back behind an email address.
Upload It. See Where You Stand.
A PDF is easiest — we read it the same way a recruiter would. No résumé handy? Paste the text instead.
Send it to a LockLeed recruiter
A recruiter who places veterans every day will read it and tell you what we'd change. No cost, no obligation, and we won't pass it to an employer without asking you first.
Three Steps, No Sign-Up
Most tools make you create an account to see your own results. This one doesn't.
Upload or paste
Your PDF gets read into its parts — contact details, summary, each role and its bullets, education, skills. Rough drafts are fine; this isn't a formatting test.
See your score
Thirteen checks across five categories, adding up to 100. Every failed check shows what it found, what it cost you, and exactly how to fix it.
Fix it — or hand it off
Carry your parsed résumé straight into the free Resume Studio, or send it to a LockLeed recruiter for a human read. Your call, both free.
Exactly What We Score
Here is the whole rubric. Nothing is hidden, because a score you can't interrogate is worthless — and because the same résumé should always earn the same number.
Your Résumé Isn't Weak. It's Untranslated.
We read veteran résumés all day. The same three problems come up again and again — and none of them are about the quality of the experience underneath.
The language doesn't travel 🗣️
NCOIC, PMCS, S4, 11B, E-6. Precise inside the service, invisible outside it. A hiring manager who can't decode a line skips it — and skipped lines are unpaid experience.
Duties instead of results 📋
Evaluations reward describing the job. Civilian résumés reward proving what changed because you were there. Same work, entirely different sentence.
Rank leads, impact follows 🎖️
Rank is the first thing you'd say in uniform and roughly the last thing a civilian recruiter can interpret. Scope translates. “Sergeant” usually doesn't.
Straight Answers
Is the résumé score really free?
Yes, and there's nothing to unlock. You see the full score, every failed check, the complete fix list, and the jargon translations without giving us an email address. LockLeed is paid by employers when we place a veteran — never by candidates.
How is the score calculated?
Thirteen specific checks across five categories, weighted to total 100 points. Every check is deterministic and published on this page, so the same résumé always earns the same score. The AI portion of the results suggests rewrites and translations — it doesn't affect your number.
Is this an ATS score?
No — and be skeptical of any tool that claims to be one. Applicant tracking systems don't publish their internal scoring, employers configure them differently, and many are search-and-filter tools rather than graders. Nobody can tell you your score inside a specific employer's system.
What this measures is whether your résumé is clear, specific, searchable, and written in civilian language. That helps with screening software and with the human who reads next, which is the part that actually decides.
Do you keep my résumé?
Not unless you ask us to. Scoring runs in your browser, and the one processing call that reads your file stores nothing. Your résumé only reaches LockLeed if you press the button to send it to a recruiter.
What makes this different from a general résumé checker?
It's built for the military-to-civilian transition. It looks for untranslated rank abbreviations, MOS and AFSC codes, unit shorthand, and military-internal acronyms — then tells you what to say instead. It also checks whether your headline reads as a civilian job title and whether your summary leads with impact rather than rank. General checkers don't test any of that, because they weren't built for you.
My score is low. Is my résumé bad?
Usually it means the opposite — you're under-selling real experience. The accomplishments are there, but written as duties, or described in language a civilian recruiter can't decode. That's the most fixable problem in this whole process.
Work the fix list top to bottom, or send it to a LockLeed recruiter and we'll tell you what we'd change. Either way it costs you nothing.
What if I don't have a résumé yet?
Start with the Resume Studio — it walks you through it field by field and will write civilian bullets from your notes. If you're not sure what your military job is called on the outside, run it through the MOS Translator first.
A Score Is Useful. A Job Is Better.
We're a veteran-owned staffing agency, not a résumé shop. Once your résumé says what it should, put it in front of employers who came to us specifically to hire veterans.
