Anderson Trucking Service

A St. Cloud company founded by an Air Force veteran, working with LockLeed to hire veterans across the business.

About ATS

Founded by an Air Force veteran

Anderson Trucking Service (ATS) was founded in St. Cloud, Minnesota by Harold Anderson, a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. His son Rollie, also an Air Force Captain, leads the company alongside his son Brent, and a display of Harold’s military memorabilia stands at ATS headquarters.

Honoring military service has always mattered at ATS, which celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2025. Transportation and logistics are vital to America’s infrastructure, and the skills people gain in the military are in demand across the industry.

Our partnership

It started with mechanics

Rich Asmus, a Marine Corps veteran and ATS’s vice president of maintenance, had hired veterans through LockLeed at a previous company and brought the connection with him. Built on that trust, the partnership grew from mechanics to roles across ATS: diesel mechanics, sales, customer service and other support teams.

“LockLeed’s partnership with ATS helps us fulfill our hiring needs while assisting veterans with their transition into civilian life.”

Support at ATS

Built to help veterans succeed

ATS gives candidates a realistic, transparent view of the company and the industry, including its challenges and rewards, through a blog, a YouTube channel and a podcast with career advice. Several pieces focus on moving from military work to a civilian job.

Inside the company, a robust training program helps employees build skill and confidence, diesel mechanic internships open the trade to people with mechanical aptitude but no experience, and a partnership with SkillBridge brings in more service members before they separate.

In ATS’s words

Why ATS hires veterans

“LockLeed has a vast network of veterans that allows us to work with candidates we may not have been able to reach otherwise. Our partnership is about connecting with the right people and helping our former military service members find civilian jobs.”

“We have been partnering with LockLeed to find qualified talent to help fill open positions. It started as a connection to bring in mechanics and has now expanded to include various positions that we hire for in other areas of the business.”

Dan AscherLead Talent Acquisition Specialist and Marine Corps veteran, ATS, 2025

“Most military members have a number of great skills in teamwork, leadership and attention to detail, along with having training across multiple areas. A lot of time if we think someone is a culture fit, we know we can work to train them internally to be successful and become part of the ATS team.”

Larry GordonSenior Talent Acquisition Specialist, ATS, 2025

“We recognize that leaving the military and taking a civilian job can be difficult. We help them understand how to use their skills in a civilian job. At ATS, we provide the support they need to succeed in their roles, and we accommodate ongoing military service.”
