Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records through routine cycle counts, inventory audits, adjustments, and reconciliation activities. This role works closely with warehouse, purchasing, production, and shipping teams to ensure inventory accuracy, support operational efficiency, and minimize inventory discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled cycle counts in accordance with inventory control procedures.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies by researching transactions, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Process inventory adjustments accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining proper documentation.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and report trends, variances, and recurring issues to management.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts and assist with annual or periodic inventory audits.
  • Verify inventory transactions, including receipts, transfers, returns, and shipments.
  • Ensure inventory records are accurately maintained within the company's ERP or warehouse management system.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and operations personnel to resolve inventory issues and improve inventory processes.
  • Maintain organization and accuracy of inventory locations to support efficient operations.
  • Follow established inventory control policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing best practices to improve inventory accuracy and efficiency.
  • Generate inventory reports and provide analysis to support operational decision-making.
  • Support receiving, stocking, and warehouse activities as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of inventory control, warehouse, or materials management experience.
  • Experience performing cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, warehouse management systems (WMS), or inventory software.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles, including FIFO, lot tracking, and inventory auditing.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to climb ladders and operate material handling equipment, if certified.
  • Ability to work in warehouse and manufacturing environments.
