Food Service Cook
Highlights of your role:
The cook prepares palatable, nutritionally sound meals consistent with department policies and procedures and consistent with state and federal laws and regulations that meet daily nutritional and special dietary needs of each patient or resident. Responsible to ensure that foods are prepared and served at the proper temperatures and the proper times. Works in an efficient and economic manner so that each patient or resident receives food in the amount, type, consistency and frequency to maintain acceptable body weight, nutritional values and quality of life. This position also prepares food for public service areas including the cafeteria, medical staff and caterings.

Job Schedule: 4:30am-1:00pm or 11:00am-7:30pm
Hours: 32 per week
FTE: 0.8 Full Time
Weekend: every other
Holidays: every other
Pay: $18.62-$24.21
What you’ll get to do in this role:
Acting supervisor in the absence of food service supervisor and manager.
Reviews menus, recipes, spreads and production sheets to determine food to prepare.
Plans cooking schedule to ensure that food will be ready at specified times.
Prepares food in correct quantities using proper food preparation and techniques to conserve nutritive value and quality of foods.
Ensuring food is served in a safety and timely manner. Uses food thermometers to determine that foods are at the proper temperature for meal service, i.e., 165 F internal temperature, and records temperatures.
Serves food according to spreadsheets, patient/resident requests and menus.
Provides support, documentation, and communication to ensure smooth operations in the Department.
Maintains work areas to meet sanitation and safety standards.
Maintaining proper dress code including good personal hygiene.
You’re an excellent fit, if you have:
- onsite training available!
- 1 yr institutional food service experience as a cook preferred
- current MN certified food protection manager (CFPM) preferred
- great customer service and communication skills
- ability to work independently
