Bench Technician
Description
Advanced Wireless Communications (AWC) is seeking a full-time Service Technician (Bench) to join our team in Lakeville, MN. In this in-person role, you’ll specialize in hands-on troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and programming two-way radios, repeaters and callboxes.

Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, test, and program two-way radios, repeaters and callboxes.
- Follow test procedures, schematics, and technical instructions to identify issues at the component level (analog and digital circuitry).
- Repair or replace components using soldering and other fine motor skills.
- Document all repairs, including failure analysis, part/model numbers, physical and cosmetic conditions, and components replaced.
- Provide technical phone support to customers to assist with troubleshooting.
- Report service completions to the Service Coordinator/Senior Bench Technician.
- Utilize and maintain service equipment including service monitors, spectrum analyzers, watt meters, and digital multimeters.
Work Environment:
- In-person role at our Lakeville, MN headquarters
- Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Standard Business Hours (see Charlie’s notes below - 8:00am – 4:30pm)
- No travel required
- Work performed at a dedicated bench station in a clean technical service environment
- Prolonged periods of sitting required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion
- Fine motor skills needed for small parts handling and soldering
Pay and Benefits:
- Hourly rate: $25–$30/hour, based on experience

Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Electronics or a related field, or equivalent certifications plus 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Military background in engineering or communications strongly encouraged to apply.
- Extensive experience troubleshooting to the component level in analog and digital circuitry.
- Ability to interpret schematics, block diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with Kenwood, Vertex, and Motorola radio products is a plus.
- Previous experience with two-way radio dealers, public safety repair shops, or communications manufacturers preferred.
- Strong proficiency with test equipment (service monitors, spectrum analyzers, watt meters, multimeters, etc.).
- Customer service mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Background check required.
- Valid driver's license required.
