Schriever Space Force Base at a glance
Schriever Space Force Base is a satellite operations installation east of Colorado Springs. Its public mission heritage includes command and control of the Global Positioning System and the Satellite Control Network. Mission Delta 31 provides positioning, navigation and timing and satellite control capabilities. Space Base Delta 41 supplies the installation, infrastructure and combat service support for Schriever's operational organizations.
Schriever was planned as a consolidated space operations location in 1979. Construction began in 1983, and Falcon Air Force Station activated in 1985. It became Falcon Air Force Base in 1988 before taking the Schriever name in 1998. The establishment of Space Base Delta 41 in June 2025 gave Schriever its own host support organization after the earlier shared Peterson-Schriever arrangement.
