Fort Campbell at a glance

Fort Campbell is a power projection installation on the Kentucky–Tennessee border. Its expeditionary mission includes the 101st Airborne Division's air assault operations, the 5th Special Forces Group and the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Maneuver training and garrison services sustain this operational community, supporting soldiers, civilians and families alongside the installation's responsibilities for readiness and deployment.

Established in 1942 as an armor training and mobilization camp, Fort Campbell became a permanent installation in 1950. Its footprint crosses Christian and Trigg counties in Kentucky and Montgomery and Stewart counties in Tennessee. Clarksville, Hopkinsville and Oak Grove are among its neighboring communities. The post's official Kentucky identification does not mean that all of its land or the surrounding community lies in Kentucky.
