Maintenance Technician
Under general supervision, performs skilled mechanical work in Preventive Maintenance,
Troubleshooting and Installation of Bakery Machines, Packaging Machines and Production
Support Equipment; and performs related duties and projects as assigned
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
? Keeps Bakery Machinery, Packaging Machinery and Production Support Equipment
running
? Repairs breakdowns in a timely manner (critical for the baking process)
? Following GMP’S
? Responsible for food safety requirements pertaining to BRC, AIB, GMP and any
other legal or legislative rules and / or regulations.
? Keep the Work Area orderly and clean
? Perform Daily Checks on Machinery and Equipment following, but not limited to the
Daily Checklist provided
? Performance of Preventive Maintenance following the tasks in the Handbook of the
Machine Suppliers or following the instructions in the preventive Maintenance Schedule
? Replacing Parts on Bakery Machinery, Packaging Machinery and Production Support
Equipment
? Set-up of Production Support Equipment and Machinery
? Cleaning of disassembled Machinery and Equipment

Examples of Duties:
1. Acts to prevent potential problems on Bakery Machinery, Packaging Machinery and
Production Support Equipment before they cause unscheduled machine or system
downtime. Responsible to provide the safe, economical, and continuous operation of the
Equipment. Must be willing to meet the demands of the facility in urgent and emergency
situations. This may involve working overtime and requires weekends and may involve
holidays. Must be willing to be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the facility. The
maintenance mechanic may need to be accessible 24 hour a day - 7 days a week to meet
the facilities requirements. Other duties include assisting Refrigeration Technicians and
Electricians with building systems, operations, and preventive maintenance.
2. Replaces and repairs shafts, bearings, sprockets, gears, chains, conveyor belts, casters,
wheels, transmissions, rollers, air cylinders, pistons, valves, hydraulic parts, pumps, belt
drives, compressors, fan motors, plumbing, heaters, filters
3. Set-up of production support equipment such as freezer, slicer, conveyor, seeder, baking
paper applicator, water lines, air lines

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential

Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical
school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Bilingual English and Spanish preferable.
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, decimals,
bakers percent, area, circumference, density, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in
written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.
