POSITION SUMMARY
The Chemistry Laboratory Manager is responsible for the Leadership, Management and Accountability for
all electroplating chemistries and chemistry maintenance technicians on site. Major responsibility areas
include regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance; oversight of, and participation in, testing and
maintenance of chemistries; managing stock levels and purchasing; continuous improvement of the
chemistry monitoring and management system; troubleshooting of chemistry-related quality issues; and
research into new chemical processes. Continuing research into better chemistries, chemistry maintenance
methods and tools, and innovative electroplating methods not currently conducted by the company.
Communication with the regulatory agencies and submitting reports, applications, and testing is an integral
part of this position. Consistent correspondence with suppliers is required to maintain chemistry information
to keep up to date with regulatory compliance. The Chemistry Laboratory Manager will have contact with all
areas of the company to facilitate production support, safety management, continuous improvement, and
regulatory compliance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a in chemistry. A graduate degree in chemistry is advantageous. Must
have working knowledge of Microsoft O365 applications.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete actions for all environmental regulatory compliance matters, including but not limited to:
Regulatory Compliance:
Develop and foster contacts with regulatory agencies.
Conduct mandated regulatory testing and reporting.
Maintain regulatory permits and licenses.
Schedule and lead annual regulatory and safety employee training.
Maintain Safety Data Sheet document library.
Research and keep current with upcoming regulatory changes.
Lead the plant safety committee.
Complete and maintain chemistry waste disposal and records.
Maintains manifests and hazardous waste records.
Ensures staff is properly trained to hazardous waste.
Operations:
Overall responsibility for ensuring completion of all scheduled chemistry testing.
Overall responsibility for monitoring bath parameters and ensuring they remain within
specification limits.
Oversee lab technicians.

Participate in operational chemistry testing and maintenance tasks.
Review of chemistry testing methods and intervals to improve maintenance outcomes and
productivity.
Review chemistry maintenance software and coordinate with software developers to
improve functionality.
Participate in troubleshooting activities for chemistry-related process failures.
Assists with hazardous waste handling, as necessary.
Research:
Research chemistry-related ideas for productivity improvements leading to overall company
manufacturing increases.
Research opportunities, either chemistry or process for decreasing materials waste.
Research alternative chemistries to existing chemistries leading to cost saving and/or quality
increases.
Research new chemistry technologies, as directed, for development of new and innovative
product offerings to the market.
QUALIFICATIONS

required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Has the ability to read and understand the written English language. Has the ability to write reports and
correspondence. Has the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Has the ability to work with mathematical concepts and to solve mathematical equations as related to job
position such as probability, statistical inference, and algebra. Able to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Show the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out the responsibilities of the job, as
described. Has the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or
hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up
to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus
(computer screen, microscope).

JOB ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is indoors. Lighting and temperature are adequate. There may be some exposure to
hazardous chemicals or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Personal protective equipment
commensurate with specific tasks must be worn.
